NEPHROLOGY SOCIELTY OF BOSTWANA
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1.1 We are a non-governmental organization with is aimed at the following objectives:
1.2 Promotion and dissemination of knowledge and information though organizing; professional and scientific meeting, conferences, symposiums, lectures and courses that will ultimately improve outcomes of patients with kidney diseases.
1.3 Affiliation with local, regional, international societies and academic institutions in order to exchange information, materials on renal diseases.
1.4 Partnership with relevant stake holders to influence policy development on renal related issues.
1.5 Development and implementation of guidelines on the care of patients with kidney diseases.
1.6 Undertaking and implementation research in kidney diseases.
1.7 Influence renal curriculum development and training for doctors, nurses and allied health professionals.
1.8 Creating awareness in the community on kidney diseases.
1.9 Dealing with any matters concerning the welfare of patients with renal diseases.
MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATION AND RIGHTS
2.1 Full membership is open to people under the subcategories:
2.2 Full members: Health professionals registered with the Botswana Health Professions Council, Botswana Nurses and Midwifery Council currently living and working in Botswana.
2.3 Associate members: Medical, nursing and allied health students who are at any level of training.
2.4 Affiliate members: Professionals other than health professionals who are interested in kidney care. Examples are Kidney advocates, pharmaceuticals etc.
2.5 Emeritus members: Retired nephrologists residing in Botswana or any other country than Botswana.
2.6 International member: Anyone who qualifies under (2.2), (2.3) or (2.4) but residing in any country other than Botswana. For those who have never worked in Botswana they will need full registration in their country of training or residence and evidence of good standing with the licensing body.
2.7 Only members who are full members shall have the right to vote and hold office in the society.
APLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP
3.1 A person wishing to join the society shall do so by completing the form in the website.
3.2 A copy of the constitution shall be sent to every approved member upon payment of the joining fee.
3.3 A non- refundable membership fee is paid to the treasurer via the payment gateway in the website annually.
3.4 Annual subscriptions are payable within the first month of the year. If a member falls in to arrears with his/her subscription or other dues, the treasurer shall inform him/her immediately. If he/she fails to settle his/her arrears within 4 weeks of their becoming due, the Chairperson may order that he/she be denied the privileges of membership until he/she settles his/her account. If he or she falls into arrears for more than 3 months, he/she will automatically cease to be a member and the committee may take appropriate action against him/her provided that they are satisfied that he/she has received due notice of his/her debts.
3.5 Freezing of membership shall be determined by the executive committee depending on the merits of the case.
